Training Philosophy

The stable training philosophy is to surround the horse with the best team of people available and to insure the HORSE gets what it needs. In this stable "the welfare of the horse comes first".

Every horse stall is rubber matted and bedded with kiln dried, sterile pine pellets which insures a dust and bacteria free stable environment. Although more expensive, it greatly reduces respiratory ailments and other health risks.

A large water filter has been installed on the barns water supply line and is maintained to deliver high quality drinking water.

Every individual stall has an electric fan to cool the air and aid in controlling the flies. The main shed row rigging area has a large high volume industrial grade fan to ensure the horses are comfortable during harnessing and being worked upon.

The highest quality hay available is fed daily. Finding a reliable supplier of top quality hay year round in Florida is very difficult to say the least. My current hay of choice is 80 lb bales of timothy/alfalfa with the current price being $15.50 per bale. If I cannot get quality hay, I use hay cubes. Hay is VERY expensive in Florida but you cannot feed poor quality hay. Horses are feed 3 times a day with the noon meal being bran mashed with numerous supplements and lots of water added. The current grain of choice is Purena Omelene 200 mixed with a local pellet grain. A condition called "tying-up" is a problem for horses in Florida due to the hot humid weather and a well balanced properly supplemented high in fat diet is crucial for success. Every horse in the barn is treated for ulcers as I was part of a study group in Canada and stomach scoping made a beliver out of me that conpetitive horses MUST be treated for ulcers.

Every horse in the barn is completely outfitted with its own equipment. There is NO sharing of equipment in this barn! As necessary the stable utilizes Equine Aero Mask with various allergy puffers, Nebulizer Unit, Whirlpool Therapy Boots, Ice Boots, Magnetic Boots, Magnetic/Ceramic sheets, Ceramic Quilts etc... Pompano Park has a onsite Lab for blood work and round the clock access to Veterinary care. There is a water treadmill aquazior available for use by horses requiring that therapy. A turnout facility located 15 minutes from the race track is routinely used for freshing horses.

The track has a half mile jogging track available 7 days a week and the main five eights track is open for use everyday excepy Sunday.
